From Wheel to Worktable: Combining Clay Practices

Someone once said, "Wheel working is the quickest way to handbuild". Don’t take this to mean your work is restricted to round pots or cylinders! What happens when you cut those cylinders in half and turn them sideways? In this workshop we will deconstruct, reassemble, and alter pots made on the wheel. Our goal will be to create unique sculptural and functional vessels using both wheel working and hand building techniques. Demonstrations of surface design techniques, such as layering painted designs with resist patterns, will also be included. Come ready to think outside of the box, or cylinder! Some previous experience with wheelworking preferred. This class includes open studio time.
