Working outdoors with a model, we will take advantage of the unique setting of The Clark and the portability of the medium as we make fast portrait studies in watercolor. We will begin with observational exercises and sketches in graphite to understand facial structure. Then we’ll head into The Print Room for a special viewing of watercolor portraits from the Clark collection. The remainder of our workshop we will introduce watercolor and explore shapes, shadows, use of line, color, and brushwork to evoke the setting and the model's expression and mood. You will gain confidence in your choices of composition, color, and in capturing a subject in a natural, changeable setting. Suitable for all levels of painters; one-on-one feedback and demonstrations will support everyone's growth.
