Fine Arts Animation

This workshop immersion will focus on discovering animation as a fine arts form. After looking at the work of some experimental animators to gain a better sense of the history and practice of this field, we will explore basic animation principles and methods. We will complete exercises with straight-ahead drawn animation and basic stop-motion using clay and objects. Once we have a sense of the process, we will work with a basic software program (free) on our laptops to build a very short animation piece. The skills introduced are ideal for anyone curious about creating work--or transitioning existing work-- to incorporate motion and sequence.
