Inspired by the plaster casts of figures in sculptor Daniel Chester French's original studio at Chesterwood, we will photograph the figure in the landscape. Using classic portrait setups, styling and natural lighting approaches, we will create distinctly contemporary, posed images which convey timeless physical elements: surface, skin tone, and gesture. Our model(s) will be placed among the gorgeous, stately grounds at Chesterwood, presenting opportunities to mix context and subject through composition. Students are also welcome to photograph any landscape and structural element at the site. Each class will present opportunities to share images on a laptop for input from the instructor and fellow students. A camera with exposure, focus and other controls is encouraged but not essential. Photographing indoors in the historic studio will be suggested in case of inclement weather. Take 10% off this class if you finalize your registration 3 or more weeks before the start date.
