Kiln-Cast Glass

Want to explore glass as a medium? This class introduces kiln-cast glass and the ancient art of lost wax. You will sculpt a small wax form that will be used to make a mold for a “one off” reproduction in cast crystal. Open to all levels (including absolute beginners!), this class will lead you step-by-step to complete a finished piece in a glass color of your selection. Class meetings will cover techniques for working with wax, plaster/silica mold making procedures, de-waxing the mold, the kiln firing process, firing schedules, annealing the glass, and learning basic cold working techniques.
