Measuring Success

IS183’s rigorous assessment process ensures that LTA is a high quality program. For each LTA module or program session, IS183 charts students growth across three outcomes that are evaluated to gauge success.

  • OUTCOME #1: Students demonstrate understanding of artistic medium / art form
  • OUTCOME #2: Students demonstrate increased knowledge of academic concept(s)
  • OUTCOME #3: Students demonstrate attitudinal shift

IS183 administers the Afterschool Program Practices Tool (APT), provided by the Massachusetts Department of Education, to measure outcomes for all LTA modules. Designed specifically for after-school programs, this tool developed by the National Institute on Out of School Time (NIOST) is a research-based, scientifically field-tested tool used to help after-school/summer programs align program improvement efforts with desired youth outcomes.
